Floyd Mayweather announces he is coming out of retirement in 2020
Floyd Mayweather has shocked the combat sports world after announcing he would come out of retirement next year.
The 42-year-old American (professional boxing record 50-0) posted a picture on his Instagram wearing wraps with the caption, “Coming out of retirement in 2020”. He did not elaborate on which sport it would be.
The post was retweeted by UFC president Dana White, who was spotted sitting with “Money” court-side at a Los Angeles Clippers vs Boston Celtics basketball game on Wednesday, further fuelling rumours of a move into mixed martial arts. The pair have openly stated that they are working together on another event.
UFC’s White has also given exposure to UFC-tied Zuffa Boxing in recent weeks but has not confirmed when it will be launched.
